11-22-19 NBA Blog Train Friday: 10 Games
Welcome to the NBA Blog Train!
If you are new here, we take a look at each game being played tonight. We check in on Vegas and see how our Locks panned out. We can’t help but add in our box score musings, favorite highlights and tweets.
Let’s get to the action:
Hornets at Wizards -6 OVER 234.5
We have been screaming it from the mountaintops, but perhaps we need to find a bigger mountain:
THE WIZARDS GET INTO SOME HIGH SCORING AFFAIRS.
Wizards 125, Hornets 118.
Wizards last 5 game totals: 243, 270, 246, 253 and 273. How many of those games went into OT? Zero. How many went way OVER? All of them, of course.

Hawks at Pistons -6 OVER 226.5
The Pistons got revenge from an early season 17-point loss to the Hawks in Detroit on October 24th. Revenge Games are still in!
Pistons 128, Hawks 103.
Since that first game, Atlanta has lost John Collins to suspension and Kevin Huerter to injury. Our baby Hawks have been wounded, dropping 5 games in a row. Ice Trae was ice cold tonight, 1 of 11 from distance and 3 of 12 from the field.
The Pistons, on the other hand, have gained Blake Griffin. This was only Blake’s 4th game of the season but it was his best one yet. The Pistons currently have the third highest three-point percentage in the NBA at 39.2 percent. We didn’t see that coming. Last year the Piston’s shot 34.8 percent, 23rd in the league.

Kings at Nets -2 UNDER 214.5
Still no Kyrie. Is he ducking his return to Boston next week on Thanksgiving Eve?
The Under barely squeaked it out! Only by 1.5 points.
Nets 116, Kings 97.
This game looked SO different than our favorite game of the 2018-2019 season. We miss last year’s young surprise teams a lot.
Gone but never forgotten.

Heat -4.5 at Bulls OVER 217
Heat -4.5 (we got in at Heat -5) was a Pure Lock. Miami jumped out 15-0 and never looked back… until late in the 4th quarter when the Bulls made a slight run. But we were not worried about Jimmy Buckets closing this one out. Not worried at all.
Heat 116, Bulls 108.
This was not just a homecoming for Jimmy Butler but also for Kendrick Nunn, who is from Chicago. Nunn excelled yet again with his seventh game this season with 20 or more points, tied with Ja Morant for most among NBA rooks.

Spurs at 76ers -7 UNDER 220.5
Ben Simmons notched a triple double, however, the slander continues. It’s not because Simmons is actually a bad basketball player, it’s just because he’s playing nowhere close to his potential like he showed us in the 2nd half of his rookie season. He doesn’t seem to have the same swagger these days.
Identical to Kings-Nets, the Under here barely squeaked it out! Only by 1.5 points.
76ers 115, Spurs 104.
The Spurs have lost 8 games in a row. Winter is coming.

Lakers at Thunder +4.5 OVER 209.5
WELP. It’s officially official. We took the Lakers -5 which was a Slippery Lock that slipped away. The Lakers were up 15 in the third quarter. The Thunder do not roll over. At the very end of the game, LeBron could have gone in for an easy uncontested basket after his game-saving interception, but he elected to let time expire, and the Lakers did not cover. *big sigh*
Talk about a nice way to end the half.
The Akron Hammer made an appearance in OKC. Chris Paul made a business decision to get the fuck outta the way.
Lakers 130, Thunder 127.
That’s seven Lakers bets in a row that we have busted. SEVEN. So it’s officially official. We are taking a full blown Lakers betting hiatus. It has been suggested that we take the Lakers and put them in a box and take them to Goodwill. But we aren’t taking that box to Goodwill, we are dropping that box into the middle of the ocean. Our vow is to take the next seven games off. Seven lost. Seven off.
Wait a second… we still have Chris Paul in fantasy. We did it again!!!!!
For the newbies around here, we always lose our bets when we bet against our own fantasy guys. Always.

Cavaliers at Mavericks -10 OVER 221.5
OVER 221.5 was the Lock of the night! (Mavs -10 sure also would have been nice.)
The first game between the Mavs and Cavs three weeks ago totaled 242 points. They added two points to that tonight.
Mavs 143, Cavs 101.
Luka didn’t have a triple-double and aren’t you kinda surprised? Luka still tallied 30 points, 14 assists and 7 rebounds in 28 minutes. He didn’t need a triple double. And we know he would have gotten it if he did.

Warriors +16 at Jazz OVER 208.5
Did you see Don Mitch’s Mailman’s?
Don Mitch dropped 30 in ‘em.
Jazz 113, Warriors 109.
Props to Golden State for this not being a blowout. Draymond didn’t play again.

Celtics +5 at Nuggets UNDER 206.5
Over 206.5 was an Anti-Lock. 206.5 just seemed soo low for two good teams, but it seems significantly insignificant after Kemba’s neck injury from running into Semi Ojeleye. Carried off on a stretcher (and they fucking dropped the stretcher), Kemba was later released from the hospital, and it sounds like it wasn’t anything too severe, thank goodness.
Nuggets 96, Celtics 92.
This was one of those games where you instantly regretted taking the Over after just a couple of slow, shitty possessions.

Rockets +5.5 at Clippers OVER 226.5
If we had known the Clippers were going to wear the Old English lookin’ GTA font jerseys, we woulda put the house on ‘em. It’s a good thing we didn’t.
Clippers 122, Rockets 119.
Business as usual for the Clippers in the 4th quarter: Sweet Lou gettin’ fuckin’ buckets. Terminator Kawhi gettin’ to his spots, drillin’ unguardable jumpers that we all knew were going straight in. Oh, and now they also have Paul George as a third option.
This 4-point play by Harden was on another level.
All in all, we will remember this as the WOW Harden 4-point play night.
What did we think of ESPN’s new camera angle?
Shoutout Live 97! Roster Player #24 was decent.
How about a few more?
Yeah, it did not go over so well.
