11-05-19 NBA Blog Train Tuesday: 6 Games

Pacers (3-3) at Hornets (3-3) +2 OVER 215.5

Charlotte trailed by 14 going into the 4th quarter and pulled off the comeback, forcing OT behind the usual 4th quarter killers Devonte Graham and Bismack Biyombo. DG finished with a career-high 35 points and hit the game-winning free throws in OT.

Hornets 122, Pacers 120. OT

This was almost a Jeremy Lamb Revenge Game, but nope. Lamb hit several big shots down the stretch for Indiana. Charlotte had an answer each time, mostly in the form of free throws.

Per ESPN’s Tim Bontemps:

The Hornets beat the Pacers in overtime tonight, 122-120, thanks in part to a ridiculous advantage in free throws. Charlotte went 28-for-42 from the free throw line. Indiana? Just 6-for-7. Coach Nate McMillan was not pleased. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before,” he said. It was, in fact, the 63rd time an NBA team has shot 35 more free throws than their opponent — and the first since the Rockets did it in a game against the Pistons three years ago, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

MJ was sitting down on the bench and was cheesin’. We searched Twitter for a picture or tweet for you. We found this tweet by mistake:

Cannot wait to pull this line out next time we are playing pickup.

Celtics (4-1) -6 Push at Cavs (2-4) OVER 213

Celtics -5.5 was a Lock that we locked in early before it moved. The Celtics were looking great for most of the night, but the Cavs fought back and made it a game! A late Kemba Walker steal and free throw saved us and then ohh baby it came down to the final buzzer when dat boi Collin Sexton missed a driving lay up that went in and justttttttt rolled out to our screaming pandemonium.

Celtics 119, Cavs 113.

Gordon Hayward tied his career-high with 39 points, 17 of 20 (!!) from the field (a lot were bunnies).

We miss Carsen Edwards’ hair. Really wish he would have asked us first before he did that.

Spurs (4-2) at Hawks (2-3) +5.5 UNDER 221

With John Collins suspended 25 games for testing positive for Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide 2, Spurs -5.5 was supposed to be a Lock that we could count on! And it was looking like a Lock, but then Ice Trae started splashing threes and made Aldridge look silllly.

Hawks 108, Spurs 100.

We are so liberated (and invested in the Hawks OVER 32.5 wins) that we didn’t even mind gettin’ ICE’ed up.

Magic (2-4) at Thunder (2-4) -2.5 UNDER 201

We got this one in at Under 204.5 knowing it would drop, and drop it did, down to 201. And Under it went, but only thanks to the 4th quarter when the wheels fell off just the same as they did on Saturday for the Thunder in the Pelicans matinee game.

Tonight’s 4th quarter: Thunder 21, Magic 15. — Saturday’s 4th quarter: Thunder 21, Pelicans 18.

Thunder 102, Magic 94.

The Magic have hit the UNDER in 6 out of 7 games with 1 push. Orlando has yet to score more than 100 points!

Lakers (5-1) at Bulls (2-5) +7 OVER 215

Lakers -7 looked dreadful with Chicago leading by 17 at the half and by 18 with 4 mins left in the third quarter. But then the Lakers bench started the 4th on a tear! Kuzma was finally looking like Killa Kuz and Quinn Cook was hittin’ threes and Pineapple Dwight was grabbin’ boards and dunkin’ dunks. A 16-0 Lakers run, right back in business!

Then LeBron and AD came in and it was a WRAP. Until all of a sudden with 30 seconds left, the Bulls were down 9, and for NO REASON, a “Chandler Hutchison” pulled up from three……. and drilled it home with 18.8 seconds left. The clock ran out and so did our Lock.

Lakers 118, Bulls 112.

Another game, another triple-double for Bron: 30 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. People have been debating MJ vs. LeBron for a decade, but LEBRON IS STILL PLAYING AT THE HEIGHT OF HIS POWERS IN YEAR 17. Thank you for attending our TED Talk.

Heat (5-1) at Nuggets (4-2) -4.5 UNDER 211

The rare late game that we did not get in on.

Nuggets 109, Heat 87.

Denver was due for a solid win. Jokic only played 23 mins but:

And:

One more:
