Chasing Pure Locks Review: Friday, November 12th, 2021
Welp, after a nice 8-4 start to the week, tonight’s 3 picks had some real Week 1 Chasing Pure Locks vibes…
Our 1st Pick: Knicks at Hornets Over 224.5
Our Friday night journey commenced in Uptown, a crisp 50 degrees with a slight breeze.
The Knicks got the memo on this Over, however, the Hornets… did not.
Kemba lit up his former team for 17 points in the first quarter, half of the Knicks 34, while the Hornets only managed 18 points, throwing a wrench into this Over.
The Over never recovered, but the Hornets sure did! The Knicks fell apart like a 3-dollar suitcase.
Hornets 104, Knicks 96.
Over 224.5 was definitely an Anti-Lock.
But this was a great comeback win for our beloved Hornets.
As for the Knicks…

Our 2nd Pick: Nets -9.5 at Pelicans
Our second pick brought us down to NOLA to the Smoothie King Center.
This one started out looking like a Solid Lock as Harden had a little bounce back in his step. This was The Beard’s best game of the season. The Nets led by 8 after the 1st, by 7 at halftime and by as many as 21 in the 3rd quarter.
But the Pelicans went on a 16-2 run that overlapped from the 3rd to the 4th quarter. It was the Pelicans who led 104-101 with less than 5 minutes left.
The Nets got their shit together and put in a quick 16-6 run of their own, however, the damage was done and Nets -9.5 was toast.
Nets 120, Pelicans 112.
It was a Slippery Lock that slipped away.
Harden: 39 points (11-of-18 from the field, 6-of-10 from 3, 11-of-15 from free), 12 assists and 5 boards.
KD: 28 points (11-of-17 from the field, 3-of-3 from 3), 8 assists and 7 assists.
Hats off to the 1-12 Pelicans who fought hard to the end. Our boy Trey Murphy III was a big part of the spark, +18 in 18 minutes.

Our 3rd Pick: Bulls +5.5 at Warriors
Our last stop was out in SF at the Chase Center.
The Bulls led by 10 early and by 6 after the 1st quarter. But that 1st quarter was a mirage. We could feel it as soon as it started.
The Warriors gained all the momentum with Chase Center behind them and turned this into a freaking blowout.
1st quarter: Bulls 29, Warriors 23.
Last 3 quarters: Warriors 96, Bulls 64.
Steph went off for 40 (thank goodness we also had Steph’s Over 32 points), but this team seriously has a Strength in Numbers feel to it.
Warriors 119, Bulls 93.
This was a Mirage Lock.
It’s important to remember that the Bulls are without Vooch (they missed him a LOT more than we thought they would), Coby White and Pat Willy. The Bulls have a tough road ahead: @Clippers, @Lakers, @Blazers and @Nuggets.
Meanwhile the Warriors have the best record in the league and are embarking on a road trip of their own but of the east coast variety: @Hornets, @Nets, @Cavs and @Pistons.

0-3 tonight makes our once good-looking week not so good-looking at 8-7 but still in the green!
Tomorrow is a new day with 7 games on the Saturday night menu.
We love this game!
