Friday NBA Blog Train: 9 games

Raptors (1-0) at Celtics (0-1)

OVER 213 got off to a rocky start. It was brick city at TD Garden, but both teams got in offensive grooves in the 2nd half, trading buckets and nailing threes to our grand elation.

Celtics 112, Raptors 106.

The J-Team (Jayson and Jaylen) put in 25 points each for Boston.

Siakam (33 points and 5 of 7 threes) and Lowry (29 points and 6 of 10 threes) did their part for Toronto.

Nick Nurse deployed 9 players, up from just 8 on opening night.

Timberwolves (1-0) at Hornets (1-0)

T-Wolves -5 was a lock: Minnesota has perimeter D and a Big KAT Unicorn.

Charlotte picked up right where they left off, starting the game making 9 out of 10 shots.

But Big KAT was just too much: 37 points, 15 rebounds, 8 assists, 4 steals, 2 blocks and +25 net rating.

Wiggins took so many of his patented bad long-range 2’s early in the shot clock. It was disgusting.

Timberwolves 121, Hornets 99.

Did we find out if Steph was wearing a Devonte Graham suit? DG started the year 10 of 11 from three! He finished the game 6 of 9 so just 12 of 16 now.

Knicks (0-1) at Nets (0-1)

We did it. We pulled the trigger, but we got in at +280.

The Knicks were trailing by 19 in the 3rd quarter. It wasn’t looking too good. But then the Knicks stormed back! Wayne Ellington hit a big three. R.J. Parrot was making plays. All of a sudden, the Knicks had a 3-point lead with 3 minutes left in the 4th!!

Then Uncle Drew got in his bag again.

Nets 113, Knicks 109.

Kyrie hit the go-ahead step-back 3 over R.J. Parrot in the same spot as Game 7 of the Finals. Couldn’t even be mad at it. In the slightest.

Wizards (0-1) at Thunder (0-1)

Chris Paul had one of the worst games of his career. 30 mins: 6 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds and 5 turnovers with 3 missed free throws.

Wizards 97, Thunder 85.

Wizards MoneyLine at +317 woulda been dope. We knew a good MoneyLine would hit tonight!

Bulls (0-1) at Grizzlies (0-1)

Bulls -2 was a lock that didn’t look very good until the Bulls outscored the Grizz by 10 in the 4th quarter and then it looked great.

Bulls 110, Grizzlies 102.

Markkanen had a forgettable game (4 of 15 shooting), but Zach LaVine (37 points and 4 threes) and Coby White (25 points and 4 threes) led the comeback charge for Chicago.

Mavericks (1-0) at Pelicans (0-1)

Luka triple-double alert! 25/10/10. KP with 24 points, 3 of 5 from deep.

Delon Wright had a helluva game off the bench: 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 assists and +11 net rating.

Mavericks 123, Pelicans 116.

Luka banked home a clutch 3 in the final two minutes. And he was fired up, of course. He pounded his chest a little to which Jeff Van Gundy stated: “You can’t pound your chest after a banked three. There should be a rule against that.”

Well, Luka could have called it!

Suns (1-0) at Nuggets (1-0)

Both teams couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. Nuggets 39.1%, Suns 39.5%.

Nuggets 108, Suns 107. OT

Joker triple-double: 23 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists.

Blocks: Nuggets 12, Suns 1. (The Deandre Ayton news sucks.)

Trail Blazers (0-1) at Kings (0-1)

An unfortunate thing happened here. This lock did not get entered in time. The bet didn’t get placed. It was out of our hands, but it happened. It’s all good, though. The Blazers -1.5 lock was still a lock. (Blazers coming off a home loss to Denver and the Kings without Bagley… lock. it. up.)

Trail Blazers 122, Kings 112.

It was Dame Time in the 4th and Dame Dolla was pulling up from deeeeep.

Jazz (1-0) at Lakers (0-1)

Thoughts and prayers if you had Over 215.5! We had the UNDER, because it was a Pure Lock. This game was described as a “Frenetic Slop Fest.” That’s exactly what you wanna hear when you have the under.

The Lakers playing some damn fine defense was a pleasant surprise.

Lakers 95, Jazz 86.

Oh, you know, just a classic LeBron stat line in year 17: 32 points, 10 assists, 7 rebounds and +17 net rating.

It was talked about during the broadcast, but it’s something we have long believed in and have been screaming from the mountaintops all summer: AD at the 5! The no doubt key to unlocking the best Lakers lineup. AD has long been on record as saying he doesn’t want to play Center, but he has also stated numerous times that winning is the most important thing at the end of the day. Winning over legacy.

Well, AD, if you want to win, and cement your stamp on the game, play some more fucking Center.

OUT: Rondo & Kuzma. Bogdanovic.
