11-13-19 NBA Blog Train Wednesday: 7 Games

76ers (7-3) at Magic (3-7) -2.5 OVER 207.5

Philly, without Embiid, ran out of steam on the second night of a back-to-back, outscored by Orlando in the 4th quarter 32 to 15.

Magic 112, 76ers 97.

There was a slight discrepancy at the free throw line: 76ers 9 of 13. Magic 26 of 34.

Grizzlies (3-7) +2.5 at Hornets (4-6) OVER 221

OVER 221 was the Lock of the night! This was definitley a Pure Lock, it looked great from start to finish — aka The Stone Cold Lock.

Memphis had a 115-105 lead with 2 minutes left, but the Hornets clawed their way back in. Devonte Graham nailed a three to tie the game 117-117 with 23 seconds left.

Who was The Guy for the Grizz? The fearless Ja Morant. Young Ja somehow was able to hit a game-winning driving layup in between Cody Zeller and Miles Bridges after zipping passed Cody Martin on the way to the hoop. This kid is special.

Morant finished with 23 points (10 of 15 shooting) and 11 assists. AND he got to dap up his dad. Take a bow, rook!

Grizzlies 119, Hornets 117.

With 0.7 seconds left, Rozier actually had a good look at it! (Probably didn’t get it off in time, though.) Rozier tied his career-high 33 points, making 7 of 12 threes. We see you, Terry!

We also see Jaren Jackson Jr. stroking 4 of 6 threes. JJJ is heating up from deep.

Wizards (2-6) at Celtics (8-1) -7 Push OVER 230

Brad Beal was feeling it (44 points on 17 of 27 shooting) and so was Rui Hachimura (21 points on 9 of 12 shooting).

The combined 65 points from Blue Panda and Japanese Jordan was not quite enough to stack up to the Celtics Big 3: Kemba (25), Tatum (23) and Brown (22) totaled 70 points.

Celtics 140, Wizards 133.

The Wiz get into some seriously high scoring affairs.

Boston is sizzlin’ hot, winning 9 straight while heading into a 5-game road trip out West.

Clippers (7-3) at Rockets (7-3) -2 UNDER 233.5

PG did not make his season debut after speculation that he might. That was a tease.

Westbrook had 4 fouls in the 1st quarter, but that didn’t stop him from playing 30 minutes.

Remember how we said that it is truly amazing that Harden could be averaging 37.3 points despite not playing that well… THIS was Harden playing well. The Beard was flexin’ on ‘em: 47 points (12 of 26 from the field, 7 of 13 from three, 16 of 17 from free), 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Harden is wrecking this league.

Rockets 102, Clippers 93.

Doc was ejected after a misunderstanding with the officials where the refs apparently screwed the Clippers over on a timeout. Austin Rivers was taunting his dad.

Spurs (5-5) at Timberwolves (6-4) -1.5 OVER 228.5

Soo this Andrew Wiggins thing is still happening… 30 points on 12 of 23 shooting (4 of 7 from three!) and 8 rebounds, 7 assists (!!), 2 steals and a block in 32 minutes. We always believed!

T-Wolves 129, Spurs 114.

San Antonio from distance: 3 of 17 for 17.6 percent. Woof.

The Spurs are sliding. Which means they are probably about to go on a big run after everyone says they are dead. They’re White Walkers. They’re already dead. Winter is coming.

Answer to the Pop Quiz from the last T-Wolves game capsule: Where did Treveon Graham go to college? — VCU!

Warriors (2-9) at Lakers (8-2) -9 UNDER 218.5

The Warriors had gone Over in 5 straight games. (Ever since we stupidly picked the Over on Warriors-Hornets on Saturday 11/02 before we knew Draymond and D-Lo were out. The Hornets won that one 97-83, way Under.) So the Warriors had gone Over in 5 straight and no AD for the Lakers tonight… that spells Over 218.5 right? It sure looked that way from the jump and alllllll night long. But then the Warriors scored 12 fucking points in the 4th quarter.

This was a Pseudo Lock. A Slippery Lock. It looked so good, but it slipped away. Lakers Over got us again!!!

Lakers 120, Warriors 94.

JaVale McGee had himself a NIGHT against his former team: 18 points, 17 boards, 3 blocks, 3 steals and 2 assists in 28 minutes, good for a +30 net rating!

Raptors (7-3) +3 at Trail Blazers (4-7) OVER 218.5

Siakam got it done in every way imaginable.

Spicy P finished with 36 points (15 of 28 from the field and 4 of 7 from three) and he was a cold blooded killer in the 4th, silencing Moda every step of the way.

It’s officially time to start talking about Siakam in the early early season MVP discussion.

Raptors 114, Blazers 106.

Fred VanVleet has been huge for Toronto during Lowry’s absence. Freddy VV played 40 mins (Siakam played 41) and scored 30 points on just 16 shots.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Terrance Davis were key off the bench, chipping in a combined 31 points.

Dame had a very forgettable night: 9 points on 2 of 12 shooting.

Portland. Needs. To. Make. A. Trade.
