01-14-20 NBA Blog Train Tuesday

The Blog Train is back with 6 games on Tuesday night!

Let’s get it!!!

Suns at Hawks +1.5 Over 230.5

We know Brandon Goodwin because he was featured in our last segment of WHO HE!? on Friday. This is a good time to give you the answer to the Pop Quiz: "Where did Brandon Goodwin go to college?” … Central Florida and Florida Gulf Coast — UCF and FGCU!

No Rubio tonight and we were not on pace to hit our Suns Over at halftime, a 39 percent chance to win with the Hawks up 56 to 51.

Then the 3-balls starting raining down upon State Farm Arena. We went looking for an umbrella.

We also needed a jacket, because it was getting chilly.

In fact, it was cold.

Ice cold.

Ice Trae scored 17 in 4th, finishing with 36 on the night and 10 dimes.

Devin Booker scored 39 points but was ejected with 1:35 left in the game after receiving his second technical foul. Booker had dunked on DeAndre’ Bembry and then called Bembry a “bitch ass.” Book could not believe it.

Neither could Monty Williams.

Hawks 123, Suns 110.

Jazz -3.5 at Nets Over 222.5

We took the Jazz -3.5 (a Pure Lock :), and we stayed away from this Jazz Under which was looking good until the 4th quarter when both teams made difficult shots down the stretch. It would have been a Slippery Lock that slipped away.

Jazz 118, Nets 107.

The Nets have now lost 4 in a row to the Jazz and 6 straight to Western Conference opponents.

The Jazz have now won 10 in a row and 15 of their last 16 games. Utah, currently in 2nd place in the West, has gone on their patented 2nd half of the season run before the 2nd half of the season.

The elephant in the Utah locker room is Mike Conley, who has only played in one game during this 16-game hot streak. But we agree with The Gang on the The Ringer NBA Show: Heat Check podcast, the Jazz will still need Mike Conley come playoff time. Speaking of the playoffs, tonight was also just the third current playoff team that Utah has defeated during this 16-game turnaround. And these Nets and the Magic are not exactly high-quality playoff contenders.

Knicks at Bucks -16.5 Push 230

The Bucks -16.5 was the Pure Lock of the night.

Mike Miller is our latest Coach in Despair. Dude in the glasses is cheesin’ hard watching Giannis destroy everything in his path: 37 points on 12 of 17 shooting, 3 of 5 from three, 10 of 12 from free, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in 21 minutes.

Bucks 128, Knicks 102.

The Bucks completed the season series sweep against the Knicks with beatdowns of 44, 21 and 26 points.

Rockets at Grizzlies +4.5 Under 240.5

No Westbrook tonight. Harden was cookin’ early, but this was not The Beard’s night. Harden still had 41 points, yet was just 13 for 37 from the field and 5 of 19 from three.

Ja Morant is about that life.

Tony Allen, joining the Memphis broadcast, spoke for us all: “This is exciting!”

Ja hit Harden with the step-back! Young Ja only missed one shot all night: 26 points on 10 of 11 shooting, 3 of 4 from three, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block. Ja in the immediate post-game on-court interview with 3D: “I was just hungry.”

Grizz 121, Rockets 110.

The Grizzlies have now won 6 in a row and are sitting pretty in the 8th spot in the Western Conference. It is the Memphis Grizzlies who are sure looking like the young surprise team of the 2019-2020 season!

We are required to tell you that there was a Solomon Hill heat check sighting in the 4th quarter that cooled down with a technical foul to boot!

Mavericks -8 at Warriors Under 224

Mavs -8 was another Pure Lock this evening.

Luka barking at Draymond alert!

Mavericks 124, Warriors 97.

Like the Bucks over the Knicks, the Mavs completed the season series sweep against the Warriors with three beatdowns: 48, 20 and 27 points.

Per the Warriors broadcast, Omari Spellman is leading the league in three-point percentage in the month of January. “He’s the best three-pointer shooter in the NBA this decade!”

Cavaliers at Clippers -15.5 Over 224

The ole LA back-to-back for Cleveland. The Clippers were sans PG but it did not matter, Clippers -15.5 was another Pure Lock.

Somewhere Michael Scott was yelling: “I’m king of the wooooorld!”

Zubac with the poster power dunk! Level 3?

Clippers 128, Cavs 103.

The Clippers are now 12-1 in games this season following a loss.

Kawhi scored 43 points in 29 minutes, 14 of 22 shooting from the field and 6 of 10 from three.

10 games ahead on the Wednesday night slate, including an ESPN double-header: Nets at Sixers and Blazers at Rockets. On the early side, Spurs at Heat and Raptors at Thunder should be good. And then Mavs at Kings and Magic at Lakers should be good late.

It’s all good, cause we love this game!
