Chasing Pure Locks Review: Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021
What a fun Wednesday night of hoops!
How did our 3 picks do?
Well, that’s another story.
Our Pick: Knicks +1 at Pacers
The Result: This was not a Pure Lock. Nope, no way. This was Anti-Lock. For sure.
The Pacers were gunning from the jump, an 11-0 lead before we had fully settled into the couch.
In our pre-game write-up, we mentioned how the Knicks offense was ranked 2nd in the NBA — and coming into this game, the Knicks also had the 2nd-best three-point percentage.
If you didn’t already know that, you would have thought those ranks were on the Pacers’ resume.
This wasn’t the Knicks’ night. It was the Pacers’ night.
More specifically, it was Myles Turner’s night.
In the first eight games, Turner made eleven 3s. Tonight, Myles Turner hit a career-high seven 3s.
The Knicks did fight back, and we’ll give them props for that. They cut the lead to just two in the 4th, but they never once led in this game. That’s definitely an Anti-Lock.
Pacers 111, Knicks 98.
Three-pointers: Pacers 16-of-41. Knicks 5-of-24. That’ll do it.
Good thing we just had the Knicks #3 in our East Power Ranks and the Pacers #13.
But hey, R.J. Barrett still looked as sharp as ever. We know the Knicks are better than this. They’ll be back.
As for the Pacers… STILL PESKY.

Pure Lock #2: Nuggets -1 at Grizzlies
The Result: This was not a Pure Lock. It was a Rollercoaster Slippery Lock that slipped away.
The Nuggets drew first blood, 2 to zip.
That’s when the Grizzlies went on a 14-0 run. (Here we go again!)
The Grizz were up by as many as 20, but by halftime, the Nuggets were right back in it, only trailing by 1.
Will Barton was a nice having a game for the Nuggs to the point that we were yelling: “WILLY B!!!”
The Nuggets dominated a third quarter stretch that saw them grab a 10-point lead, but the Grizzlies quickly trimmed it to 5 just before the end of the period to steal the momentum back.
Then JJJ went crazy in the 4th, ripping three 3’s and scoring 11 in just over four minutes in. He was having an inefficient game, until all of a sudden he was lighting it up.
In the end, the Nuggets were right there. A Ja Morant missed free throw left the door ajar.
Down 2 with 10 seconds left, Jokic had a chance to sent it to OT.
Alas, she did not fall.
It was a Rollercoaster Slippery Lock that slipped away.
Grizzlies 108, Nuggets 106.
When JJJ gets going, that’s when the Grizz can reach their max potential. But don’t forget that they haven’t even had Dillon Brooks yet. (Apparently he’s close to coming back because he’s started playing in some “simulated games.”)
The next Nuggets game isn’t until Saturday night when they play the Rockets at home. The Nuggets owe us in that one.

Pure Lock #3: Hornets at Warriors Over 226.5
The Result: This was not a Pure Lock. *big sigh* This was another Anti-Lock.
They got off to a slow start, but the Warriors did their part and picked up the pace, scoring 114 points in all behind 31 from… Jordan Poole!
It was a POOLE PARTY. Seven 3s for Poole, only three for Steph.
For the Hornets, Miles Bridges had another fantastic game, but Charlotte had a stretch of nine minutes in the 3rd quarter without a field goal.
When you have the Over, that is NOT what you wanna hear.
Warriors 114, Hornets 92.
Unders have taken back over the game.
Even despite all of the low Totals, out of 11 games tonight, eight went Under and one was a Push.

Welp, glad we got our first 0-3 night out of the way early. Hopefully you faded our picks!
3-6 isn’t the start we wanted, but tomorrow is a new day with five games on the menu.
We’ll be back at it.
We love this game!
