12-27-19 NBA Blog Train Friday Night: 6 Games

We back!!!

The remaining two At the Game posts are on the way! We just could not help ourselves, and we had to run the Friday Night Blog Train for the first time in 2 weeks.

Let’s get to tonight’s game capsules:

Cavaliers +14 at Celtics OVER 215.5

The rare and lovely weekday matinee that tipped off at 4pm EST. Gotta love the holidays!

Jaylen Brown followed up his big 30-point Christmas outing with a career-high 34 points. Hello, fantasy points! [insert heart eyes emoji here]

The J-Team had the garden rockin’ with a combined 64 points and Jayson and Jaylen both shot 5 of 10 from three.

This is fantastic.

Celtics 129, Cavs 117.

In his debut as a Cleveland Cavalier, Dante Exum shot a perfect 3 for 3 from the field in 15 minutes.

Thunder -1 at Hornets Under 208

The beginning of this game was even worse than the beginning of the Kings-Hornets game that we attended 10 days ago. The score was 0 to 0 for the first three minutes of the game! We were sure glad that we stayed away from this Hornets Over.

P.J. Washington with the nifty up-and-under reverse lay-in HIGH off the glass with the perfect spin. This was the rookie’s first game back after a five-game absence.

Tied 94 to 94 with 1.9 seconds left, CP3 hoisted a would-be game-winner at the buzzer that did not go. Terry Rozier grabbed the rebound, and apparently did not realize the game was going to OT, because Scary Terry slung the ball way up as if the game was over. The ball landed in the stands and Rozier got a technical foul. Luckily, it was assessed in Overtime, where the Hornets fell just short after a valiant comeback in a wacky game.

Thunder 104, Hornets 102. OT

This one went Under even though it went into OT. We really need to start a counter for those!

After the final buzzer, Dell Curry stated that this was: “The most exciting, ugliest game we’ve seen all year.” Eric Collins added: “A tough pill to swallow. The ultimate kick in the pants.”

#AllFly, for real.

In the latest segment of WHO HE!? We have OKC’s Luegenz Dort. #5. 6-3 rookie from Arizona State and originally from Toronto. DORT!

76ers at Magic +4 UNDER 210

Fultz had a solid revenge game, but we could not help but notice Ben Simmons, his former teammate, DARING him to shoot in the 3rd quarter.

shoot-it.jpg

Yeah, really sagging off. Ben Simmons knows this treatment very well.

Air Gordon was flexin’ on ‘em after the reverse oop.

Magic 98, 76ers 97.

The Sixers are a very uninspiring 7-9 on the road this season, following up their best game of the season on Christmas with a dud. Embiid almost brought Philly back with a flurry of late threes.

The Magic still get into low scoring affairs!

Bucks -7.5 at Hawks UNDER 235.5

No Giannis, no problem for the Bucks who steamrolled the Hawks in a Pure Lock. Giannis sat out due to back soreness and Milwaukee is now 2-0 when the Freak sits.

Pat Connaughton power dunk!

Bucks 112, Hawks 86.

Ilyasova had a season-high 18 points and 17 rebounds. Sheesh. The Thunder Bros were at it!

The headline for Atlanta, very unfortunately, is that Trae Young was helped to the locker room, did not return and has already been ruled out of Saturday’s game. It was his ankle again. :/

Pacers +5 at Heat Over 211

Our first game back in the saddle, back in on the action, was a Slippery Lock that slipped away. We jumped on Heat -5 when we heard that Brogdon was out. The Heat led by 5 with six minutes left, but the Pesky Pacers bit us in the ass yet again.

Look out below!

This is art.

The Dragon came through at the end of a wild broken play in the final seconds.

Heat 113, Pacers 112.

This might be our final lesson of Never Bet Against the Pesky Pacers. Narrator: “It was NOT their final lesson of Never Bet Against the Pesky Pacers.”

Jimmy Butler had a poor shooting night, 3 of 11 from the field, but he saved it by making 14 of 15 from the charity stripe, still managing 20 points on the night.

Dion Waiters did not play but was actually listed as Active, his most recent suspension now behind him.

Suns at Warriors +3.5 UNDER 225

Draymond was hitting 4th quarter threes and Steph was so, so happy. Same, same!

Warriors 105, Suns 96.

The Warriors outscored the Suns by 21 in the final frame. Don’t look now but that’s a 4-game winning streak for the WWWWarriors!

Alen Smailagic’s Warriors season debut means another episode of WHO HE!? The fourth youngest player in Warriors history, #6 Smailagic is a 19-year-old 6-10 rookie from Serbia and has the nickname Smiley on his Basketball-Reference page.

14 games on the Saturday night slate.. Yeah, 14!!! We are still trying to figure out our plan.

We love this game!
