07-30-20 NBA Bubble Blog Train Thursday

Well well well…

WE ARE BACK!!!

It has been four months and twenty days since our last Blog Train Post (shoutout 420!) and 141 days since the last real NBA basketball game. But here we are. We made it. There were a lot of naysayers who said that we wouldn’t, but we made it!

Before we get to tonight’s action, we do want to say a big thank you to anybody and everybody who participated in Power Dunk City. Whether you rated one power dunk or 100, whether you liked some of our tweets or didn’t like any at all and just watched — thank you! And thank you for your understanding that we didn’t feel like publishing any writing during the 4+ month long hiatus. We felt as though that needed to be left to the professionals who are qualified. We just felt like watching a bunch of dunks and sharing our favorites.

And do not worry, this will certainly not be the last you ever hear of Power Dunk City.

Now without further ado…

ALL ABOARD!!!

Jazz +2.5 “at” Pelicans UNDER 228.5

The NBA is back. The Jazz are back. And so is the Junder!!! You already know that we had to take the Jazz Under in the first official bubble game. The Junder was a Pure Lock, never in doubt!

First play for the Pellies. We love to see it.

Zion power dunk oop from Jrue. Power Dunk Rating: 3.9 out of 5.

SLICK. Zion only played 15 minutes, having just recently made it back to the bubble after being away for personal/family matters. Zion was 6 of 8 from the field.

Jazz 106, Pelicans 104.

It was very fitting that Gobert scored the first bucket of the bubble. It was quite surprising that Gobert hit the game-winning free throws. Ingram had a good look at a game-winning three at the buzzer. Alas, she did not fall, halfway down and out. Ingram looked smooth throughout, reminding us of the vast progress he’s made this season, but he did cool off down the stretch.

Clippers +4 “at” Lakers UNDER 220

The Lakers -4 was almost a Comeback Lock, but it was actually a Slippery Lock that slipped away. However, the Lakers UNDER was another Pure Lock! We have a feeling that we are going to be taking a lot of bubble Unders.

The first official Akron Hammer of the bubble! Power Dunk Rating: 3.4 out of 5.

Lakers 103, Clippers 101.

Round 4 of the Battle of LA was a first night of the bubble classic! The Lakers started the game off hot but commenced the third quarter ice cold. Then AD hit some threes to help pull the Lakers back in. LeBron turned it up in the fourth quarter, controlling the game as the master chess player that he is. But PG was en fuego late to get the Clippers right back in it. PG’s 3 with 28 seconds left tied the game 101-101. That’s when LeBron followed up his own shot for the game-winning put-back and then played lockdown defense on both Kawhi and PG on the game’s final possession. Meet us at the cleaners.

Also, Dion Waiters was a +17!!!
