Chasing Pure Locks: Monday, November 8th, 2021
Warning: Proceed with caution!!
On Monday, November 1st, we commenced a new segment, Chasing Pure Locks, publishing 3 picks per day trying to find the no doubt winners of the night. “Best bets,” as some like to call them.
It hasn’t exactly gone according to plan.
While our overall record has still been fine, these published picks have gone a startling 7-14. So we have to tell you that the numbers say you are better off fading these picks. (We only want what is best for you!)
Four days in a row, we have gone 1-2, so chances are there is one winning pick below and two imposters.
It’s up to you to find the real one. (We are merely the messenger.)
Pure Lock #1: Knicks -2 at 76ers
Have we bet every Knicks game since we started this segment? YUP, sure have.
We got burned by the Knicks against the Raptors and Pacers, but then the Knicks pulled through in a huge Comeback Lock against the Bucks, and we hit the Cavs-Knicks Over last night — a no doubt Pure Lock.
2-2 in Knicks picks, this is our Knicks rubber match.
No Embiid. No Tobias. (No Ben Simmons.)
The Sixers are still a damn fine team even without their “Big 3.”
Seth Curry continues to play out of his mind.
Korkmaz and Niang gave us the business Saturday night in Chicago.
Tyrese Maxey is actually the one who leads the team in minutes per game.
And yet, the Knicks are fresh off of losing to the Cavs last night and need this win more.
The Knicks are also 4-1 on the road, able to avoid opponents popping off for career highs at MSG.
Lock it up!

Pure Lock #2: Kevin Durant Over 28.5 points
KD is currently averaging 28.6 points per game, scoring 29 points or more in 6 out of 10 games this season.
So the line is right on the money, but KD is a matchup nightmare for the Bulls who do not have the personnel to guard him, especially with Pat Williams out.
Let’s face it, nobody has the personnel to guard Durant, but Chicago even more so than most.

Pure Lock #3: Timberwolves at Grizzlies Over 218.5
The worst defense in the NBA is currently… the Memphis Grizzlies.
It’s true, after being 7th in the NBA in defensive rating last season, the Grizz are dead last now.
Dillon Brooks has yet to play, and that’s definitely a factor. But Grizzlies opponents are making 68 percent of shots at the rim according to Cleaning The Glass, up from 62% a season ago. The ole eye test confirms that Steven Adams and JJJ can be a rather slow pair that opponents can exploit with speed.
You know who has speed? The Minnesota Timberwolves. The T-Wolves like to get up and go, playing at the 5th-fastest Pace in the NBA.
Both of these teams also love to let the 3-ball fly. Minnesota is averaging a league-high 44 three-pointers per game while the Grizz are hoisting 39 3s of their own.
All of this spells O-V-E-R.

We love this game!
